Understanding Computer Cases - Computer Case, in Indonesia is often called Computer Case, is a place that contains most of the computer components (usually not including screen, keyboard and mouse).
Computer Case is also known as Chassis, Tower, Housing, System Unit, Cabinet, Base Unit or simply Case. In Indonesia, people used to call it Casing or Kasing. Therefore, in explaining the notion of computer case, type, and function, I will call it Casing.
Computer cases are usually made of steel (usually SECC: Steel, Electrogalvanized, Cold rolled, Coil) or Aluminum. But sometimes plastic is also used, or other materials such as glass and wood.
The front of the computer case there is a Power button and also sometimes the Reset button. Typical small LED lights, which represent power states while the computer is running, hard drive activity and sometimes other internal processes. The Button and Lamp are connected directly to the motherboard secured in the Casing.
Computer cases usually contain 5.25-inch and 3.5-inch expansion bays for optical drives, floppy disk drives, hard drives and other media drives. The expansion bay is located in front of the casing so that, for example, DVD drives can be easily reached by the user when in use.
At least one side of the Casing, or perhaps both, can be shifted to open the Casing and access the internal components of the computer. The back of the computer case contains small holes to fit the connectors on the motherboard installed in the Case. Power supply is also installed inside the back of the Casing. The fan or other cooling device may be attached to any and all sides of the Computer case.Computer Casing Functions
The computer case has several functions, including:
1. Protector
Without Casing, any sensitive components present on the computer will be susceptible to dirt, foreign objects, children, animals, fluids, and electrical interference (EMI / RFI).
2. Structure
Casing is the holding / holding all computer components in a solid and organized.
3. Cooling
Casing helps in keeping the air flowing through all the components degan good, so that all computer components remain cool and run well.
4. Noise
Many computer components have a sound-generating fan, such as a power supply and video card. Storing all the sound-generating components in the Case will reduce the noise level.
5. Aesthetics
Although some people may disagree, but most people would prefer to see the casing of all the circuit boards, cables, and all other computer components.Types of Computer Cases
The types of computer casing are as follows:
1. Desktop Case
Desktop type computer case is a box-shaped computer case with a width of approximately 30 - 40 cm and length approximately 50 - 60 cm. This type of casing is usually located just below the monitor. Although this type of casing has been classified as the old type, but there are still some people or companies that use it.
2. Full Tower Case
Full tower type computer case is the largest among all types of casing with a height ranging from 60 cm. The advantages of this type of casing such as the number of internal drive bay in it can reach 6 to 10.
3. Case Mid Tower
The Mid Tower type computer case is known as "between" in terms of choosing a Full Tower or Mini Tower Case. This type of casing is the most widely used medium casing in the world. The average height is 45 to 60 cm and has 2 to 4 internal and external bays. Casing type of Mid Tower is the most optimal configuration in the market.
4. Casing Mini Tower
Mini Tower computer case has 2 or sometimes 3 internal drive bay as standard, and size 30 to 45 cm. Although this type of casing is portable and can be stored in a smaller space, but its upgrade capability is considered the biggest problem.
5. Casing Slimline
Slimline type computer casing is simply the Casing Tower that is turned to their side and can even hold the monitor at the top of the Casing. Just like computers a decade ago but more streamlined and denser.
6. Casing Small Form Factor (SFF)
If you want to fully design your computer and minimize the volume of your desktop computer space. SFF has varying sizes and shapes. This type of casing can be about the size of a shoebox or the size of a book.
maybe so many discussions about the computer case thank you.
